Finding fun things to do at Christmas time can be easy but do you actually remember to do them all? I know I always make TONS of plans for the holiday season and I usually only end up doing a handful of them. So this year I am doing 25 days of Christmas! No, not like the Free Form movie marathon. But with Christmas family activities! It will be 25 days of an activity for the whole family, something to do with your spouse, a Christmas movie, a holiday recipe, and a random act of kindness.
25 Days of Christmas Family Activities: Day 1
It’s December 1st and you have SO MUCH to do! So I am going to start you off with some preparation for the Christmas season.
Christmas Family Activity
A great thing to do is to make sure everybody has their Christmas lists together for Santa! Sit down as a family and spend some time going over what you want for Christmas. I recommend setting expectations for kids on the number of gifts from Santa. Whether that is a room full or only 1 or 2, that is TOTALLY up to you. But make sure that the length of the list makes sense with what they will get on Christmas morning so there is no confusion.
This is also a good time to talk about what Santa does and why. Keep it fun! And let the kids know that Santa will work hard to get the things on their lists, but that they should be thankful for whatever they get because Santa has A LOT of kids to provide for.
Christmas Couple Activity
While the kids work on their lists, you can write your Christmas cards! Since it may not be the most fun thing you’ve ever done together to lick envelopes, here’s something to make it more enjoyable.
Take some time to reminisce about what happened this year. Type up a little summary of how your life has changed and print it out to send inside the cards.
And while you do all the work, have a hot cocoa date! Get comfy under a blanket on the sofa and just enjoy your time together.
This is an enjoyable Christmas comedy for the whole family to enjoy.
Clark had his everlasting bad luck follow him along in everything he does. And trying to have a big family holiday does not make it any better.
Have fun with this Christmas movie together!
Try out these Gingerbread Spiced Almonds from Baking A Moment to snack on while you watch the movie!
They are SUPER easy to make. And they will be ready after 90 minutes in the oven. You can give them as gifts too! And if you are like me and keep a stocked pantry, you probably have everything you need to make them in your house!
Since you are spending some time writing Christmas cards and making Christmas lists today, do a little bit more writing for some very special people.
There are many families who don’t get to be together for Christmas because one of the parents is serving overseas. I am sure that they would appreciate extra cards and well wishes. So write a few extra cards and have the kids write some too. Express your thanks for their sacrafice so you can be together and wish for them to see their family soon.
It is something they will remember and hold on to for a long time.
Happy December 1st!
I hope you enjoy your day with your family and I will see you tomorrow for the day’s Christmas family activities!
