Back in 2016 I needed something to organize all of our information. I had my information and Stuart’s, but having Tobias was making me forgetful. I was in desperate need of having it all organized in one place. That was easy for me to get to if I needed it. I wanted our account numbers, important phone numbers, and health information all in one place. And I realized I wanted to make a household organization binder.
So after realizing what I needed and how I wanted to fix it, I started to google. After a few days I found what I thought I wanted. And I bought it on sale off Etsy. I printed it all out and filled it in. It had a TON of pages. It was pretty.
But I had to change the way I do things to make it work for me. And 6 months later, my household organization binder was just sitting there. Pretty much unused.
I figured out that was because it didn’t have everything I needed in it. And what it did have wasn’t exactly what I wanted. Well that was right around the time that I started to blog. One day I designed a printable blog post planner for myself specifically to meet all of my needs. It is 2 years later and I am still far more streamlined in writing m posts when I use my worksheet.
So I decided that I needed to make my own printable household organization binder sheets.
What Did I Include?
There is one page per month with boxes for each day. You can write in the numbers so that you can use it for every single year for the rest of time. that was something that was important to me. I hate having to buy a new calendar every year. It feels very wasteful.
Family Personal Information
With up to 6 people on a page you can keep all the information you wish in one place. From full name and birth date to medications and allergies.
This is a few pages long. It has all family members names, the home’s address, and adult phone numbers. Important phone numbers for all companies such as doctors, dentist, fire department, police, poison control, vet, electric company, and more. It has a spot to keep insurance info for each family member. And other things like information for financial institutions, automobiles, insurance, and schools or activities.
A page that snapshots all emergency numbers and health insurance info. As well as a reminder to call 911 in an emergency.
A general weekly planner and a weekly meal planner.
Other Great Pages
To name a few, weekly cleaning schedule, cleaning checklist, House, pet, and babysitter information, Automobile maintenance log, password log, bill pay checklist, and budget worksheet.
Using My Household Organization Binder
I use it almost daily for one thing or another. My most used pages are the password log, bill pay checklist, and budget worksheet. I use them all multiple times per month at least.
I’ve got an Avery 1-Inch Round Ring Binder that I keep it all in. Anything that is reused constantly I laminated (I use this Scotch PRO Thermal Laminator) and use with dry erase marker. For example, the budget worksheet. I use it monthly and adjust it while I am figuring everything out in the last week of the month prior. So having it laminated saves a lot of time for me because I just erase it all away and use it again.
I made anything that I could as long-term as possible. So that most things can either be reused or last for a year or more depending on how many entries you have.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to have to reprint a bunch of pages every week or month to keep my household organization binder up to date. That would defeat the purpose for me.
